Alpine Meadows Wildlife Rehab

Some Rehab Stats

As of September 1, 2008 these are some numbers involved in rehab. These numbers represent what it will take to raise 2 antelope fawns and 4 deer fawns.  Just wanted to give you an idea what is involved:

- 12 bottles prepared each feeding (2 bottles per fawn) X 5 feedings a day = 60 Bottles a day!!

- Bottle fed for at least 3 months, 60 bottles a day X 90 days = 5,400 bottles!!

- One 8 pound bucket of milk powder a week X $22 per bucket X 3 months ( 12 weeks) = $264 for formula alone!

- 6 diapers used each feeding X 5 feedings = 30 diapers a day

- 30 diapers a day for 30 days = 900 diapers

- 1 box of baby wipes every other day to keep those bottoms clean X 30 days of stimulation = 15 boxes of baby wipes

- 2 to 3 loads of laundry per day to keep bedding clean until they are big enough for outdoors, about 2 months-  120 to 180 loads of laundry!!

- nights without a full night sleep (currently I'm at 98!) at least until they are 3 months = 90 days minimum!

- hours spent a day feeding or preparing food. 1 hour per feeding average.
For the first 3 weeks they are fed every 3 hours that is 8 times a day = 8 hours
For the next 3 weeks they are fed every 4 hours = 6 times a day or 6 hours
                next 6 weeks every 5 hours = 5 times a day or 5 hours
